Tuesday 6th February 2018
Tuesday 6th February 2018 was Safer Internet Day. All around the country children were taking part in activities to help raise their awareness of being responsible online both in school and at home. We decided to link our learning in with Teach on the Beach and make a short video clip promoting the benefits of screen time along with the importance of being active and healthy in our everyday lives.
We've called our video “Screen Time is Awesome … But We Need to be Active Too!”
We hope you enjoy it!
Today I gave the children the option of bringing their bikes along for those who would prefer to cycle rather than walk ... this worked really well, the track on the way out to the beach is completely off the road so it was a lovely, safe alternative.
After filming our clip in the morning after lunch we headed down to the Traigh Mhor for a spot of cockling. We invited the P5-7 class along to join in the fun too! The money we raised from this is going to be put towards our first camping night which the children are so excited about!
After the February break the plan is to extend our Teach on the Beach sessions and to integrate more literacy and numeracy activities into our outdoor activities. I am also hoping to involve more of the children and their parents in writing the blog posts over the coming months so you get a sense of the sessions from their perspectives!
So after a busy month I am now looking forward to a few days off with my own little boy ... we're heading down South on our own outdoor adventures.
Happy holiday weekend everyone!
